In the field

Detectra is a remotely operated crawler that enters the blade at the root and drives up to 80 % of the blade length. It records the inside in 8K 360° video at 24 fps under its own light. Capture takes about 15 minutes per blade. Compatible with all major turbine manufacturers. CE-marked, with a 12-month warranty.

Detectra V3 datasheet, Rev. A.

How it works

How internal blade inspections are done.

  1. 01

    Open the root.

The turbine is stopped and the blade locked. The technician opens the root hatch as for any internal inspection.

  2. 02

    Place the crawler.

Detectra is lifted into the root and the pull-out cable is clipped on.

  3. 03

    Connect the tablet.

The tablet joins the crawler's own wireless link. No internet is needed inside the blade.

  4. 04

    Drive and record.

The operator drives from chamber to chamber, lights on, recording in short takes. Distance travelled is logged with every take.

  5. 05

    Pull it back.

Detectra drives back to the root, or is pulled back on the cable.

  6. 06

    Upload.

Recordings are copied from the crawler to the customer's PC and uploaded to Fenestra. Review starts the same day.

About 15 minutes of capture per blade. Up to 12 blades per day on one set of batteries.
